Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Seth Bennett! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Leo Valiant! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Valiant looks for a takedown but Bennett sprawls well. Valiant darts in looking for a takedown but Bennett gets double underhooks and turns Valiant into the cage. Valiant tries a head kick but it misses.
Valiant tries to close the distance and clinch but Bennett swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Bennett shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Valiant but Valiant pushes him off and we're back to square one. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bennett tries for a takedown but Valiant sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Bennett shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Valiant defends it nicely. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Seth Bennett. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Valiant tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bennett sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Valiant somewhat. Bennett closes this distance looking for a takedown but Valiant circles away. Seth Bennett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bennett dives in and grabs Valiant's left leg, looking for a takedown. Valiant pushes down on Bennett's head and hops out. Valiant with the counter takedown but Bennett avoids it easily. Valiant misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Bennett wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Valiant shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Valiant is working for takedown but Bennett is calmly controlling the position for now. Bennett has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. That's four minutes gone in the round. Bennett has control of an arm but Valiant manages to advance to Bennett's back! Valiant is trying to stick to Bennett's back but Bennett is turning into Valiant. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Valiant's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Bennett. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Valiant throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Bennett escapes and throws Valiant's legs to the side, diving into side control! Valiant bucks up and tries to throw Bennett off but instead Bennett has got his back! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Bennett gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes. Bennett lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Bennett.

Valiant shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Bennett is trying to defend but Valiant finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Bennett has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Valiant throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Valiant missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Bennett is looking for a sweep. Valiant is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Bennett won't allow Valiant to pass to mount. Bennett is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Bennett is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Valiant can do to turn this around? Bennett will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Valiant wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
