Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rob Grace! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mako Takaziko! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Grace shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Takaziko manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Takaziko keeping full guard, as Grace tries to pass. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Takaziko holds on and takes a little breather. Grace forces his way into half guard. Takaziko wants to get back to full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Takaziko regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Grace. Grace looking to pass the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Grace throws a big right hand that misses. Grace sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Takaziko's guard. Grace passes to side control. Grace tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Grace has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Grace tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Takaziko prevents Grace from improving position. Grace is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Takaziko knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Takaziko tries to improve position but can't. Grace advances to mount. Grace thowing shots but they're missing. Grace has isolated one of Takaziko's arms. Takaziko looking to fight him off but Grace twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
