PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Otto Tallus (ranked 5413 p4p, 523 weight class) and Jack Bronsan (ranked 5797 p4p, 536 weight class). Tallus's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Poison Girl. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Otto Tallus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Bronsan!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shirou Masuda and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tallus changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bronsan looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Tallus is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Tallus tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tallus has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tallus's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Bronsan is trying to get back to half guard.
Bronsan wants to control but Tallus postures up.
Bronsan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Tallus wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Bronsan gets caught flat footed, as Tallus shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Tallus seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Tallus seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bronsan for as long as he can get away with.
Bronsan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tallus not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Nice sprawl there from Bronsan as Tallus shoots in.

Bronsan misses with a takedown attempt - Tallus sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Otto Tallus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Tallus leaves Bronsan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
We've been informed that Bronsan has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Tallus darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Tallus is taking a breather. Bronsan says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Otto Tallus overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Tallus slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Bronsan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Tallus manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Tallus tries to counter with a takedown but Bronsan is quick to defend against it.

Tallus is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bronsan can do to turn this around?
Tallus has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Tallus frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Tallus looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Bronsan is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Tallus has taken his back.

Tallus slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

This is a sustained period of stalling by Tallus.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Bronsan goes for a double leg but Tallus avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Tallus continues to drive forward.

Tallus shoots in looking for a takedown but Bronsan manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Tallus's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Otto Tallus. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Tallus shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Bronsan doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Tallus counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bronsan won't be happy with that.

Otto Tallus showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Tallus, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
