Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rian MacFarlane (ranked 1439 p4p, 187 weight class) and Alexander Gruzdev (ranked 1710 p4p, 205 weight class). MacFarlane comes to the cage accompanied by The Foggy Dew. Alexander Gruzdev has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
28 - 26 - 0, fighting out of London, Rian MacFarlane! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 16 - 0, fighting out of London, Alexander Gruzdev! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A leg kick checked by MacFarlane. MacFarlane lands a lovely overhand right. A jab from MacFarlane does it's job there. Gruzdev checks a leg kick. MacFarlane ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. MacFarlane lands with a straight right. Gruzdev didn't see that one coming. Gruzdev with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Gruzdev avoids the body shot from MacFarlane.
Gruzdev misses the body punch and MacFarlane counters with a nice uppercut. MacFarlane lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. MacFarlane misses the shot to the body. Gruzdev lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A swing and a miss from MacFarlane. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Gruzdev circles away from the clinch attempt.
MacFarlane looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gruzdev connects with a high kick.
It looks like Rian MacFarlane has been cut. Gruzdev throws a body punch but MacFarlane moves out of range. Gruzdev throws out a loose jab but MacFarlane uses good head movement to avoid it. A counter left hand to the body from MacFarlane misses its target. MacFarlane defending well as Gruzdev loads up on a big left hand. Gruzdev misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
MacFarlane moves away from the strike by Gruzdev. A slapping leg kick lands for MacFarlane.
MacFarlane lands a nice looking body shot.
Gruzdev walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. MacFarlane is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Gruzdev. A shot to the liver by Gruzdev. Beautiful body shot. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Good leg kick by Gruzdev there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Some bone on bone action there as MacFarlane checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. It looked like MacFarlane was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Gruzdev. Gruzdev avoids a lazy jab quite easily. MacFarlane has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nice uppercut lands for Gruzdev. That snapped MacFarlane's head back.
Alexander Gruzdev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gruzdev tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but MacFarlane was well out of range. Poor timing from Gruzdev. A head kick misses from Gruzdev. Gruzdev swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Gruzdev swings widly with a right hand
and Gruzdev takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. MacFarlane walks into a jab. Gruzdev throws a series of punches but MacFarlane avoids them all with ease. MacFarlane connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
It looks like Alexander Gruzdev has been cut. MacFarlane takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
A telegraphed right hand from Gruzdev misses the target. Gruzdev misses with a body shot.
Gruzdev looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Gruzdev blocks a leg kick. MacFarlane dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Gruzdev. That did some damage!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gruzdev jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Gruzdev fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but MacFarlane is out of range. Gruzdev's hands are dropping dangerously low here and MacFarlane connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Gruzdev scrambles back to his feet. Gruzdev throws a leg kick but MacFarlane sees it coming and checks it nicely. A telegraphed right hand from Gruzdev misses the target. MacFarlane blocks a head kick by Gruzdev.
Gruzdev misses with a few strikes there.
MacFarlane swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. MacFarlane keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Gruzdev scores with a nice right hand.
Gruzdev scores with a sloppy right hand. MacFarlane should have avoided that one.
MacFarlane is rocked! MacFarlane takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Oh MacFarlane is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Gruzdev cracks MacFarlane with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends MacFarlane tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Gruzdev pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! MacFarlane is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alexander Gruzdev! Alexander Gruzdev decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well. Rian MacFarlane was interviewed post fight and said 'Sorry guys everything is still fuzzy... but I think he tapped out... so it is what it is... who am I again?'.
