The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Santiago Holmes and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Culpi throws a lazy head kick
and Carsara counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Carsara throws a right hand that Culpi ducks under and follows up with a left that Culpi also avoids with ease.
Culpi changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Culpi closes the distance and clinches.
A bit of stalling here from Culpi.
I was talking to Carsara's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Carsara is trying to break the clinch but Culpi is controlling him.
Carsara tries to circle away but Culpi has him pinned against the cage.
Culpi jumps guard and drags Carsara to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Culpi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Carsara gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Culpi has a closed guard, preventing Carsara from standing up.
Culpi is looking for a triangle but Carsara pushes his legs off easily.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Culpi is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Carsara has his hands clasped together but Culpi extends and breaks Carsara's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Culpi.
