The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Norman.
Budo has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Jab, jab by Budo - just one landing.
Budo throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Norman staying out of range there.
Budo lands with a right hand.

Norman shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Budo's guard.
Budo is looking to stand back up but Norman counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Budo.

Budo is trying to stand up here but Norman is controlling him well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Budo is not content to let Norman control the position.
Budo tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Norman manages to move to mount!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The referee warns Budo that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Budo is trying to stand up.

Norman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Norman is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Budo can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Norman postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Budo looks a forlorn figure.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Budo can do anything to dispel that myth.
