The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Johnson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Hardy is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Johnson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Hardy's back instead.
Hardy manages to scramble and ends up in full guard, under a barage of strikes . Great composure from Hardy.

Hardy has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Johnson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Johnson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Hardy is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Hardy has his foot on Johnson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Johnson works his way back into a safe position though.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hardy can do anything to dispel that myth.

Hardy shoots in looking for a takedown. Johnson tries to sprawl out of it but Hardy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Johnson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hardy connects with a nice short shot to Johnson's temple.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Hardy cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Johnson is trying to reverse the position but instead Hardy has taken his back - oops!
Hardy scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
Hardy looking to break Johnson's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Johnson remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Hardy will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Hardy is trying to stick to Johnson's back but Johnson is turning into Hardy. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Hardy's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Johnson.

Johnson drops back looking for a leg! Hardy is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hardy manages to kick Johnson off! Johnson jumps back into Hardy's guard.
