PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Harris (ranked 23407 p4p, 0 weight class) and Esteban Casillas (ranked 7206 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Marcus Harris has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Marcus Harris seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Harris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Esteban Casillas!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Chad Campbell and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Casillas scores with a nice head shot.


It looks like Marcus Harris has been cut.
Casillas tries to score a power double leg takedown but Harris sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Casillas somewhat.
Casillas wants to clinch up but Harris keeps it at a distance.
Casillas fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Casillas misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Marcus Harris has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Esteban Casillas.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Casillas tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Harris swivels and escapes.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Casillas tries to get to full guard but Harris has control of the leg.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Harris stands up and beckons Casillas to join him on the feet.

Harris stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Harris wants it to stay on the feet.
Harris appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Casillas misses with a combination
and Harris counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Casillas tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Harris is looking to counter with a shot to the body.

Casillas shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Harris counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Casillas doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Harris counters with a stiff right hand.

Harris forces Casillas back against the cage and clinches.
Harris gets underhooks to prevent Casillas's takedown attempt.
Harris tries to score a body lock takedown but Casillas shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Harris changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Casillas fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Casillas changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Harris tries to avoid it but Casillas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Harris to the ground. Harris escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Casillas wants to clinch up but Harris keeps it at a distance.
Harris thinks about countering with a head kick.

and Harris counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Casillas looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Harris is fending him off so far but Casillas persists. Nope, Harris circles away and we're back to standing.
The crowd cheers as Harris lands an impressive looking overhand right. Casillas doesn't seem phased though.

and Harris counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Harris.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Harris tightens his grip and picks Casillas up, before dumping him to the ground. Casillas manages to land in guard.
Harris engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

and Harris counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Marcus Harris is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Harris holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Casillas is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Harris prevents Casillas from improving his position.
Harris seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Casillas is trying to stand back up but Harris is controlling him
Casillas tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Harris manages to move to mount!

Marcus Harris overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Casillas wants to get back to his feet.
Harris just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Harris has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Harris leaves Casillas with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
It looked like Harris was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Casillas.
Harris circles away from the clinch attempt.
Casillas slaps away a takedown attempt from Harris, before circling back to the center of the mat.

and Harris counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Casillas shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Harris as he jumps to the side.
Harris was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

A quick step to the side and Harris tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

and Harris makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Casillas takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Harris slows the pace down.
Harris seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Casillas for as long as he can get away with.
Harris is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Casillas can do to turn this around?
Harris scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Casillas to see if he's OK.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Harris.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Casillas bucks up and tries to throw Harris off but instead Harris has got his back!

Marcus Harris is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Harris's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Well Harris has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
