Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 18 - 0, fighting out of New York, Monte Zuma!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 17 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ray Mancini!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mancini with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Mancini gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
enabling Zuma to counter with a crisp jab.

It looks like Ray Mancini has been cut.

Zuma tries to sprawl but Mancini drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Mancini is still in real trouble! Can Zuma finish him?

Zuma won't allow Mancini to pass to mount.
Zuma is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Captain Turturro`s Pirate Ship, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Zuma is holding on to half guard well.
Mancini seems to have recovered his senses.
Mancini landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

The fighters are battling for position here. Zuma manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Mancini throws a big right hand that misses.
Zuma is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mancini seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Zuma does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Zuma keeps control of the position for the meantime.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mancini working over Zuma with some ground and pound. Zuma looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Mancini lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mancini connects with a nice short shot to Zuma's temple.
Zuma wants to get back to full guard.

Mancini takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Zuma is in a horrible position here. Mancini smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Zuma wants to hold on but Mancini pushes him away.
Mancini with shots to the head and body - Zuma looks very uncomfortable down there.
Zuma is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Zuma tries to lock up and control but Mancini gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Mancini lands with some strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mancini lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Zuma holds on for dear life, controlling Mancini's posture momentarily.
Zuma tries to hold on but Mancini pushes him away.
Mancini looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Mancini postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Zuma looks a forlorn figure.
Mancini is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Zuma is in all sorts of trouble here.
Mancini scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Zuma is wriggling around trying to escape.
Zuma tries to hold on but Mancini pushes him away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mancini with a couple of short strikes.
Zuma is looking to get to half guard.
Zuma sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Mancini is trying to control the action in half guard but Zuma is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Mancini slips a nice elbow through Zuma's hands, connecting with Zuma's forehead.
Mancini winds up and cracks Zuma with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Mancini scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Zuma gets back to full guard.

Zuma working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mancini doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mancini manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Zuma is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Mancini rolls with it to try and escape but Zuma cranks on the arm and Mancini is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Monte Zuma!
In his post fight interview, Monte Zuma started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
