Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tanner Barron! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mohhamad Iman! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Iman misses with a left hand and Barron cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Iman misses with an uppercut. Barron saw that one coming. Barron throws a quick counter head kick but Iman was just out of range. Iman misses with a lunging right hand
enabling Barron to counter with a crisp jab. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Iman pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Barron thinks about countering with a head kick. Barron uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Iman. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Iman misses with a lunging right hand
and Barron counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Barron shoots in looking for a takedown but Iman manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Barron's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Iman misses with a looping right.
That's one minute gone in the round. Iman ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Barron moves away. Iman throws a looping overhand right but Barron ducks down to avoid it. Barron shoots in looking for a takedown. Iman tries to sprawl out of it but Barron keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Iman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Iman changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Iman with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Barron to score with a decent uppercut.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Barron gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Iman to score an easy takedown into full guard. Iman trying to control but Barron is working from the bottom. Iman tries to free his leg and advance position but Barron is retaining full guard. Iman is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Iman looking to pass the guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Iman keeps trying to improve his position. Iman trying to control the position from guard on top but Barron is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Iman wants to pass the guard but Barron is keeping the position. Barron is trying to keep Iman in close.
Iman slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Iman is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Barron looks calm but he's in trouble here. Iman gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Barron is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Iman lets go of the hold and Barron can pop his arm back in it's socket.
