The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Balabaw throws a jab but it's blocked by Ramos. Balabaw cracks Ramos with an uppercut from hell and Ramos crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Balabaw's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!
Ramos is rocked!
It looks like Fabio Ramos has been cut. Balabaw wants to stand but Ramos has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Ramos is looking for a triangle but Balabaw pushes his legs off easily.
Ramos controls Balabaw momentarily but Balabaw frees himself. Balabaw wants to get up but he can't break Ramos's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Balabaw really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ramos. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Balabaw avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Ramos working for a triangle but Balabaw defends it easily.

Ramos has a closed guard, preventing Balabaw from standing up. Balabaw decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Ilaga Balabaw seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Balabaw thows a left - swing and a miss!

Balabaw throws a nice looking combination but Ramos bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Ramos scores with a takedown into Balabaw's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Balabaw wants to stand up but Ramos is controlling him. Ramos trying to control the position from guard on top but Balabaw is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Balabaw is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Balabaw is looking to stand up but Ramos isn't so interested in that idea.

Ramos seems to have got his legs back now. Ramos escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Balabaw gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Ramos thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ramos working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Balabaw doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Balabaw manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ramos is trying to keep Balabaw in close.
Balabaw wants to stand but Ramos is controlling his posture from full guard. Ramos is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Balabaw showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Ramos trying to keep a closed guard but Balabaw is proving a slippery customer.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Balabaw drops Ramos with a big left hand and mounts him. Ramos is in big trouble! Ramos regains half guard. Balabaw is keen to just control but Ramos is a slippery customer. Ramos looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Balabaw decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Balabaw missing with a left hand there. Ramos was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Balabaw closes the distance and lands a brutal uppercut that knocks Ramos out! We're looking at the replay now - he was out before he hit the floor!
