PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Norman Mccoy (ranked 5161 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuki Mitsubishi (ranked 5121 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Norman Mccoy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yuki Mitsubishi!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Ren Mimura and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mitsubishi wants to clinch up but Mccoy keeps it at a distance.
Yuki Mitsubishi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mitsubishi shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mccoy napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Mitsubishi tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Mccoy really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Mitsubishi is looking to take a break and control but Mccoy is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mitsubishi is working Mccoy over with some ground and pound from side control.
Mitsubishi remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mccoy dodges the ground and pound from Mitsubishi.
Mccoy is looking for a sweep.
Mitsubishi should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Mitsubishi tries to stand but Mccoy controls the position and pulls Mitsubishi into his guard.

Mitsubishi got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mccoy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mitsubishi has managed to get both his arms back between Mccoy's legs - danger averted.
Mccoy is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mitsubishi has a hand on Mccoy's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Mccoy takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mccoy goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Mitsubishi is on top in guard.

Mitsubishi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mccoy swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mitsubishi might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mccoy haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Mccoy is trying to keep Mitsubishi in close.
Mitsubishi loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Mccoy is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mitsubishi defends well.

Mccoy lands a nice hook to Mitsubishi's body. Mitsubishi takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Mccoy tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mitsubishi was well out of range. Poor timing from Mccoy.

Mitsubishi is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mccoy sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Norman Mccoy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yuki Mitsubishi.

Mccoy is looking to wear down Mitsubishi with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Horrible takedown attempt by Mitsubishi or perhaps it was just good defense by Mccoy, which made it look bad.

Mccoy changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Mitsubishi shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mccoy sprawls well. Mccoy wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mitsubishi gets slowly back to his feet.

Mccoy ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mitsubishi moves away.

Mccoy is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mitsubishi can do to turn this around?

Mitsubishi gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Mitsubishi not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Mccoy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Mitsubishi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mccoy doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mccoy manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mitsubishi dodges the punch combination from Mccoy.

Mccoy fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Mitsubishi has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Mccoy throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mccoy swings for the body but Mitsubishi moves out of range.

Mccoy shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Mccoy stands and steps away. Mitsubishi gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Mccoy fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mitsubishi manages to avoid it.
Mitsubishi steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Mccoy.

Mitsubishi is looking to land body kicks.
Mccoy throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mitsubishi stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Norman Mccoy showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Mccoy has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
