Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Juan Villa (ranked 2701 p4p, 303 weight class) and Jacob Matousek (ranked 2899 p4p, 0 weight class). Jacob Matousek has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Juan Villa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jacob Matousek! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Eddie Farnsworth and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Villa tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Matousek dodges the punch combination from Villa.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Matousek is defended easily by Villa. Villa tries for a takedown but Matousek circles away easily and Matousek counters with a left to the body. Villa stuffs the takedown attempt from Matousek. Matousek gets slowly back to his feet. Villa lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Villa feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Matousek wants to get back to his feet but Villa passes into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Villa stalling. Matousek tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Villa is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Villa decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

and Matousek makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Villa really felt that one! Matousek tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Villa manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Matousek tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Villa swivels and escapes. Juan Villa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jacob Matousek. Villa fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Villa tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Matousek defends well and Villa ends up having to push Matousek into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Villa is breathing heavily. Villa has his takedown stuffed and Matousek counters with a series of strikes. Villa will be more careful next time no doubt. Villa slaps away a takedown attempt from Matousek, before circling back to the center of the mat. Matousek tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Matousek avoids a low kick by using good footwork. A head kick from Matousek lands but Villa takes it in his stride. Villa attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Matousek is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Matousek is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Matousek closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Villa breaks the clinch.
Matousek lands a glancing blow to the side of Villa's head. Villa ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Matousek moves away. Matousek leaves Villa with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Matousek displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Villa. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Matousek! But no joy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Villa throws a low kick but Matousek moves out of range easily. Villa throws a sloppy head kick and Matousek moves out of range easily. Matousek fails in his attempt to clinch. Matousek shoots for a takedown but Villa saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Villa tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Matousek manages to circle out of the way. Matousek tries to clinch but Villa is having none of it. Villa decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Matousek trying to control from the bottom.
Villa lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Villa is figuring out what he wants to do next. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Juan Villa will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Villa throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Matousek's waist but Matousek gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Villa off to one side. Matousek is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Jacob Matousek seems to be getting the better of the standup. Matousek shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Villa as he avoids it easily. Villa throws a nice looking combination but Matousek bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Villa doesn't succeed with the takedown and Matousek connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Matousek scores with a nice body kick.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Villa has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Matousek's face.

Juan Villa dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Villa takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Villa moves in looking to clinch but Matousek pushes him off. Villa fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Matousek sprawls well initially but Villa persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Villa scoring with strikes to the body and head. Villa stalling. Villa lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Both fighters are breathing heavily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Matousek moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Villa connects with a couple of short punches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Villa looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Villa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Matousek swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Villa slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Villa has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Villa slips nicely into half guard. Matousek wants to get back to full guard. Villa frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Villa controlling from mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Villa is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Matousek has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Matousek is in a horrible position here. Villa smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Villa controlling his opponent. Villa landing shots from mount. Villa lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Villa looking to secure an arm triangle but Matousek defends it well. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Villa controlling from mount.
And that's the end of the fight! Juan Villa showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Villa, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
