Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sebastian Halstenberg (ranked 1612 p4p, 213 weight class) and Lyoto Yoshida (ranked 1102 p4p, 157 weight class). Lyoto Yoshida will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sebastian Halstenberg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lyoto Yoshida!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Columbo Gatti and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yoshida has his takedown stuffed
and Halstenberg counters with a straight right hand.

Halstenberg gets caught flat footed, as Yoshida shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Halstenberg on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Halstenberg tries to get out of the position.
Yoshida pushing down on Halstenberg's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Halstenberg is trying to stand.
Still in half guard, Yoshida seems content to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
It looks like Yoshida might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Yoshida tries to pass to full mount but Halstenberg defends it.

and Halstenberg counters with a straight right hand.
We've been told by Halstenberg's head coaches at The Forge that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Sebastian Halstenberg is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Yoshida keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Halstenberg.
Lyoto Yoshida seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No luck for Yoshida with that takedown attempt.
Sebastian Halstenberg has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lyoto Yoshida.
Yoshida fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jab by Halstenberg.
Yoshida shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Halstenberg as he avoids it easily.
Halstenberg was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Halstenberg scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Yoshida wants to clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Halstenberg throws a right hand that misses
and Yoshida counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Halstenberg throws the left hand but Yoshida avoids the punch easily.
Yoshida throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Yoshida ducks under a wild hook from Halstenberg.
Yoshida shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Halstenberg connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Yoshida drives through with a takedown into guard.
Yoshida won't allow Halstenberg to get back to his feet.
Yoshida not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Halstenberg wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Yoshida manages to pass to side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Yoshida trying to control the pace.
Let's hope that Yoshida has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Halstenberg scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Yoshida manages to mount him!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Yoshida controlling the position easily from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sebastian Halstenberg will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


A big right from Halstenberg misses.
Yoshida tries to clinch but Halstenberg is having none of it.
Halstenberg swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Yoshida gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Halstenberg escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Yoshida throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Halstenberg counters with a stiff right hand.
Yoshida looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.


It looks like Lyoto Yoshida has been cut.
Yoshida has his takedown stuffed
and Yoshida takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.


Yoshida is rocked!
Yoshida gets tagged by a hook that puts him to sleep! Halstenberg points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. Yoshida wakes up just in time to hear Halstenberg thank his coaches in the post fight interview.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Sebastian Halstenberg!
An out of breath Sebastian Halstenberg thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
