PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nakki Fakiiri (ranked 1284 p4p, 163 weight class) and Beckett Bellwether (ranked 762 p4p, 105 weight class). Fakiiri comes into the arena with Limp Bizkit- BREAK STUFF blaring out of the sound system. Beckett Bellwether struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 266.5lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Beckett Bellwether acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

It looks like Nakki Fakiiri has been cut.
Bellwether stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fakiiri swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bellwether drops back, looking for a kneebar! Fakiiri looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Fakiiri looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Fakiiri!

The referee is keeping an eye on Fakiiri - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Fakiiri swings wildly with an uppercut but Bellwether uses good head movement to avoid it.

Bellwether has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Fakiiri uses from the top position.
Fakiiri wants to get up but he can't break Bellwether's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Bellwether is working an open guard so Fakiiri takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Fakiiri lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Bellwether blocks a body shot from Fakiiri.
Bellwether is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Fakiiri to keep the fight standing.

Bellwether is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Fakiiri defends well.

Fakiiri stands and steps away. Bellwether gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Fakiiri is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Fakiiri displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Bellwether throws out the jab.

Bellwether shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Fakiiri manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Bellwether drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Bellwether as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Fakiiri screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Bellwether! Nice submission victory there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Beckett Bellwether!
After the fight, Beckett Bellwether was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
Nakki Fakiiri spoke after the fight, saying 'My hats off to my opponent, he's a great fight great skill and tonight he was the better man. I'll be back knocking on the door of title fight.'.
