ADWGC Tokyo 4 PBP Commentary


Coming up we have a heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Jim Duggan (ranked 2562 p4p, 278 weight class) and Maxim Bok (ranked 1865 p4p, 225 weight class). Duggan comes to the cage accompanied by Five Finger Death Punch- Bad Company . Bok has chosen Give It Revolution as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Maxim Bok told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 2 losses; Jim Duggan! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 10 wins and 5 losses; Maxim Bok!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yuuki Gou and Taro Takaoka.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Bok.

Bok shoots in and bounces Duggan off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Bok trying to control but Duggan is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bok stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Duggan swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bok felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Bok manages to reverse the position and now he's in Duggan's guard. Nice work there by Bok.

Duggan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Duggan is keen to just control but Bok is a slippery customer.

Duggan trying to control the position from guard on top but Bok is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bok controls Duggan momentarily but Duggan frees himself.
Bok looking to hit a scissor sweep but Duggan is one step ahead there.
Bok has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Bok manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Duggan manages to get himself to full guard.

Bok advances to half guard.
Bok trying to pass the guard but Duggan defending well.
Bok takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Bok works his way into side control.

Duggan is trying to get back to half guard.

Bok is looking to take a break and control but Duggan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Bok goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Duggan rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Bok's guard! Nice work there by Duggan!

Bok looking for a sweep. Not yet Bok, not yet.

Bok is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Duggan rolls with it to try and escape but Bok cranks on the arm and Duggan is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
