ADWGC Sydney PBP Commentary


Coming up we have a bantamweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between David Morrison (ranked 1933 p4p, 103 weight class) and Mr Ward (ranked 4657 p4p, 221 weight class). Morrison comes into the arena with Diary of a Madman blaring out of the sound system. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the bantamweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 17 wins and 11 losses; David Morrison! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 10 wins and 12 losses; Mr Ward!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Skip Squint and Damien Edna.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Ward tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Morrison swivels and escapes.
Ward tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Morrison defends well and Ward ends up having to push Morrison into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Morrison tries to counter with a takedown but Ward is quick to defend against it.
Ward closes this distance looking for a takedown but Morrison circles away.
David Morrison has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mr Ward.

Morrison closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Ward uses his free foot to push down on Morrison's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Morrison.

Ward goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Morrison turns into him and now he's in Ward's guard.

Ward has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Morrison is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Ward.

Ward drops back, looking for a kneebar! Morrison looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Morrison looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Morrison!
