Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ludwig Mandrill! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chief Navajo! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Ryoma Takatsuka and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mandrill closes the distance and clinches up with Navajo, looking for a takedown. Mandrill pushes Navajo against the cage but Navajo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Mandrill dives in and scores a takedown into Navajo's guard. Navajo can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mandrill controls the pace. Mandrill stands up over Navajo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Mandrill lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Navajo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mandrill is aware though and is defending well. Navajo working for a triangle but Mandrill defends it easily.
Mandrill pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Navajo is keeping the position for now. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Navajo keeping moving, preventing Mandrill from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Navajo looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Mandrill works over Navajo with some ground and pound from guard. Navajo looking for a triangle here. Mandrill is fighting it but it looks tight! Navajo pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Mandrill is tapping out - this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Chief Navajo! A relieved looking Chief Navajo thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
