Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jew Jitsu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joey Whelter!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Steve Montenegro and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jitsu tries for a takedown but Whelter sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
And Whelter tries to counter it with a takedown but Jitsu pushes his down on his head and steps out.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Whelter manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Jitsu trying to control the position from guard on top but Whelter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Whelter is trying to keep Jitsu in close.
Jitsu trying to control but Whelter is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Whelter has control of Jitsu's left arm, preventing Jitsu from doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jitsu wants to control from the top but Whelter keeps moving.
Jitsu is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Jitsu is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Whelter is pulling down on Jitsu's head to control his posture.
Whelter trying to control the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jitsu accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Jitsu is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Jitsu thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Whelter working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jitsu doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jitsu manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Jitsu wants to control from the top but Whelter keeps moving.
Jitsu passes Whelter's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Whelter trying to hold on to Jitsu's head to control him but Jitsu postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Jitsu passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Whelter!
Jitsu looking to finish Whelter with some ground and pound. This is bad for Whelter!

Jitsu with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Jitsu is working for a guillotine from mount but Whelter frees his head quite easily.
Jitsu landing punches.
Whelter is in a horrible position here. Jitsu smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jitsu fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Whelter is trying to stand up.

Whelter is trying to escape the mount.
Whelter is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Jitsu working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Whelter turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Jitsu off and cradles Whelter's limp body as Jitsu celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Jew Jitsu!
