Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Seung Woo Kim (ranked 4043 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Arroya Ramirez (ranked 2857 p4p, 318 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Seung Woo Kim!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jose Arroya Ramirez!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Eddie Farnsworth and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kim tries to clinch up.
Kim closes the distance but Ramirez moves to the side
and Ramirez counters with a two punch combo.
Ramirez scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Kim with a lazy takedown attempt
and Ramirez counters with a three punch combo that has Kim backing up. Kim nods at Ramirez to acknowledge the strikes.
Kim shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ramirez defends it nicely.
Kim darts in looking for a takedown but Ramirez gets double underhooks and turns Kim into the cage.
A countering left hand to the body from Ramirez misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Seung Woo Kim. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kim fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Kim is breathing heavily.
Ramirez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Kim keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Kim is looking to get back to full guard here but Ramirez has managed to pass to side control instead.
Kim tries to bench press Ramirez off him but Ramirez keeps the position.

Ramirez decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Ramirez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Ramirez has closed the distance and engaged Kim in a clinch.

Ramirez slows down the pace here.
Ramirez prevents Kim from breaking the clinch.
Ramirez has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Ramirez prevents the takedown attempt.
Kim fails to pull guard.

Ramirez turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Ramirez decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Kim moves out of range as Ramirez throws a body kick.

Ramirez ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Ramirez no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Kim tries to free his leg and advance position but Ramirez is retaining full guard.
Kim in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Ramirez is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Kim shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ramirez but Ramirez pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kim fails in his attempt to clinch.
Ramirez counters with a body kick.

Kim gets tackled into the cage by Ramirez. Ramirez maintains the clinch.
Kim jumps guard but Ramirez turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Ramirez pulls guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Ramirez manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Kim blocks an elbow strike from Ramirez.
Kim is pressed up against the cage. Ramirez has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kim down to the mat. Kim avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kim shoots in but no luck this time.

Kim wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ramirez keeps working.
Kim is really struggling to control Ramirez but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Ramirez is positioning himself well to prevent Kim advancing to mount.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Ramirez leaves Kim with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Ramirez is looking for the big counter here.
Kim shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ramirez shoots in for a takedown but Kim shows good takedown defense.
Ramirez tries to bum rush Kim with a series of wild strikes but Kim uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Kim throws a right hand that misses

and Ramirez counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Kim gets underhooks to prevent Ramirez's takedown attempt.

Ramirez jumps guard but Kim stands there with Ramirez around his waist. Ramirez gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Kim drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Ramirez gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Ramirez has picked Kim up - he's going for a ride! Ramirez dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jose Arroya Ramirez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Kim lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
A combination from Kim does no damage.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kim is defended easily by Ramirez.
Ramirez shoots in for a takedown but Kim shows good takedown defense.
Kim has his takedown stuffed

and Ramirez moves into the clinch.
Ramirez tries to score a body lock takedown but Kim shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kim is fighting off a takedown attempt but Ramirez is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Kim to the mat. Kim regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Kim is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ramirez defends well.

Kim wants to sweep but no luck.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Ramirez not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Ramirez gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Kim looks to land a left hand but Ramirez moved out of range nicely.
Kim tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ramirez sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kim somewhat.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Ramirez.
Ramirez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Seung Woo Kim seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Seung Woo Kim is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ramirez throws a sloppy head kick and Kim moves out of range easily.

Seung Woo Kim has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jose Arroya Ramirez is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Well Ramirez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
