Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kamerun Diaz (ranked 855 p4p, 120 weight class) and Peter Batts (ranked 774 p4p, 108 weight class). Diaz comes to the cage accompanied by Beast in Black - Ghost in the Rain. Batts has chosen Midnight City - By: M83 as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kamerun Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Peter Batts! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Batts avoids the body shot from Diaz.
Batts throws an overhand right that lands on Diaz's shoulder, as Diaz tries to avoid the shot. Batts swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Batts will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Diaz seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Batts on the wrong end of a nice hook. Diaz throws a series of punches but Batts avoids them all with ease. Peter Batts seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Diaz misses with a body kick. Diaz checks a leg kick. Diaz scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Diaz connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Batts fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Diaz manages to avoid it. A slapping leg kick lands for Diaz.

Diaz ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Batts moves away. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Diaz ducks under a wild hook from Batts. Diaz tries to land a front kick but Batts steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Diaz throws a jab but it's blocked by Batts. Diaz throws a hook but Batts blocks it. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Diaz lands a leg kick that knocks Batts off balance momentarily. Nice defenses there by Diaz. Batts throws a lazy right hand but Diaz sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. The fighters circling - Batts throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
That's one minute gone in the round. Batts bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Diaz lands with a nice combination. Batts backs away looking to recover. Batts connects with a solid leg kick. Batts checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Diaz throws a body punch but Batts moves out of range. Diaz throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Diaz on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Batts. Batts obviously looking to wear him down.

He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Batts is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Diaz's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Batts is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Diaz missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Batts is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Diaz's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Diaz's back! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Diaz wants to escape the position.

Diaz tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Diaz sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Batts working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Batts thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Diaz's head.

Diaz looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Batts working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well. Batts thumps the canvas. That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Batts looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Diaz with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Diaz trying to get back to full guard but Batts takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Batts lands a big elbow. Batts postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Diaz looks a forlorn figure.
Diaz slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Batts trying to control from half guard but Diaz is working away. Diaz is pressing down on Batts's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Diaz can't keep his opponent in guard - Batts advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Batts seems to be working for a kimura but Diaz defends the submission attempt. Diaz wants to get back to full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Peter Batts will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Diaz connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Batts has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Diaz. Diaz goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Batts slips a jab and a cross from Diaz.
Batts moves out of range as Diaz strikes. Diaz connects with an inside leg kick. Good shot there by Batts. Kamerun Diaz is winning the standup battle so far. Batts smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Batts looks to land a combination but Diaz avoids it well. Diaz misses with a body kick. Batts ducks under a wild hook from Diaz. Batts looks to land a right hand but Diaz moved out of range. Diaz keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Batts. Batts stuffs the takedown attempt from Diaz. Diaz gets slowly back to his feet. Batts now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Batts takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
This has been an exciting period of action! Diaz looking to score a takedown here. Batts is defending well but Diaz drives through and ends up in Batts's guard. Diaz stopping the sweep attempt from Batts.

Diaz is working Batts over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Diaz won't allow Batts to sweep him here. Batts has momentary wrist control but Diaz slips an elbow through the middle. Diaz wants to control from the top but Batts keeps moving. Batts wants to sweep but no luck. Batts looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Diaz puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Batts is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Batts is trying to maintain the position but Diaz is very close to passing his half guard. Ground and pound from Diaz. Batts tries to roll over but Diaz keeps him under control. That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Batts preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Batts tries to roll over but Diaz keeps him under control. Batts is looking to control Diaz's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Batts avoid being mounted? The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Diaz looks to score some points with some ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kamerun Diaz dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Batts throws out a loose jab but Diaz uses good head movement to avoid it. Diaz throws a low kick but Batts moves out of range easily. It seemed like Batts was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Good leg kick by Batts there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Batts with a nice cross. Batts cracks Diaz with a right hand to the side of the head. Batts fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. A lazy left from Batts finds it's target. Diaz uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Batts. Diaz tried to counter with a leg kick but Batts avoided it. Diaz scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Diaz smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Diaz bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Diaz is defended easily by Batts. Diaz takes one to the chin there. This has been an exciting period of action! Batts pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Nice body punch from Batts. Diaz feints and then cracks Batts's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Batts down.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Batts. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Diaz, right into the meat.
Batts tries a head kick but it misses.
Batts looks to score with a jab to the body but Diaz is just out of range. Diaz swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Diaz throws a nice outside leg kick. Diaz moves out of range as Batts strikes. Diaz slips a straight right by Batts. Batts swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Batts gets caught flat footed, as Diaz shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Batts is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Batts pulls Diaz in close to prevent any damage. Diaz is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Batts looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Diaz passes into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz is chipping away with strikes.

Batts regains half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Diaz is nestled in close to Batts, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Diaz moves nicely into side control. Batts struggling a bit here. Batts is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Diaz off and has taken his back! Diaz is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Batts lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Batts.

Batts is trying to stick to Diaz's back but Diaz is turning into Batts. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Batts's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Diaz. Diaz lands a couple of digs. Diaz with a flurry of punches that miss. Batts looking to hit a scissor sweep but Diaz is one step ahead there. Diaz postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz is in close to Batts's body, working some short punches and elbows. Diaz wants to control from the top but Batts keeps moving. Batts controls Diaz momentarily but Diaz frees himself. Diaz postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Kamerun Diaz overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Diaz content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Batts is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Batts keeping moving, preventing Diaz from controlling successfully. Batts wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Diaz is now in half guard. Diaz wants to take a breather but Batts is having none of it.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kamerun Diaz. Well Diaz has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
