Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Greg Hunlin (ranked 3750 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Franc (ranked 7371 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Greg Hunlin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Paul Franc! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Sandra Marshall and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Franc shoots in for a takedown but Hunlin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Franc looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Hunlin gets a clinch. Franc has Hunlin pressed against the cage, preventing Hunlin from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Hunlin pulls guard effortlessly. Hunlin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Hunlin keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Franc felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Hunlin seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Franc for as long as he can get away with. Hunlin moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Franc. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Franc being controlled for a moment. Hunlin decides to stand back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hunlin scores with a takedown into Franc's guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hunlin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Hunlin passes Franc's left leg - he's now in half guard. Hunlin is taking a breather. Franc says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Hunlin slips a nice elbow through Franc's hands, connecting with Franc's forehead.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hunlin is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Franc sees it coming and defends easily. Hunlin with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Hunlin lands strikes from half guard. Franc is defending against the submission attempts here by Hunlin.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Hunlin not landing any meaningful shots this time. Hunlin perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hunlin stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Hunlin looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Hunlin is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Franc has managed to free his arm - good work. Franc really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hunlin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Hunlin sitting and controlling from the half guard. Hunlin decides to stand up. Hunlin shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Franc is trying to defend but Hunlin finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hunlin controlling the pace. Hunlin's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Greg Hunlin dominated that round. That's time! Hunlin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Hunlin gets the takedown into side control. Hunlin decides to take the fight back to the feet. Some wild striking there from Hunlin.
Franc tries to counter by closing the distance. Hunlin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hunlin lands in his opponent's guard. Franc is breathing heavily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hunlin advances position into side control!
That's one minute gone in the round. Hunlin thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Hunlin is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Franc can do to turn this around? The ground and pound from Hunlin seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Hunlin has knee on belly and moves into mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Hunlin working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Hunlin content just to control the position here. Hunlin punching from mount but Franc doing a good job of avoiding damage. Hunlin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Hunlin throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hunlin looking to control and managing it successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Franc really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Hunlin throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Franc because Hunlin loaded up on that one. Hunlin thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Hunlin tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Hunlin has control of Franc's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Franc regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Greg Hunlin dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Franc shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hunlin but Hunlin pushes him off and we're back to square one. Hunlin tries to counter by clinching up but Franc breaks away and moves out of range. Franc avoids the head kick by Hunlin.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Hunlin throwing shots but Franc is blocking nicely. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Franc has hold of Hunlin's hands but Hunlin slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Franc has a hand on Hunlin's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Hunlin takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Hunlin tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Franc avoids a series of strikes thrown by Hunlin.

Greg Hunlin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Hunlin misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Hunlin with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Hunlin lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Hunlin throws some wild stikes that Franc manages to avoid easily.
Hunlin manages to capitalize on a mistake by Franc to take his back! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hunlin is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Franc defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Hunlin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. A bit of a pause in the action here. Hunlin controlling the positon.
And that's the end of the fight! Greg Hunlin showed his dominance in that final round. Well Hunlin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
