Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Switek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chad Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Kevin Switek has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kevin Switek! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chad Shaw! The judges for this bout are , and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Switek works Shaw's body with a nice hook. Shaw lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Switek circles away quickly and effectively. Shaw dodges the punch combination from Switek.
Switek uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Shaw has time to react. Shaw shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Switek as he jumps to the side. Shaw looks gassed! Switek tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shaw paws at him with a jab and circles away. Switek lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Shaw shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Switek pinned against the cage. Switek gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Switek looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Switek moves into the clinch. Shaw has Switek pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Switek manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Kevin Switek has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chad Shaw. Switek successfully pulls guard.
Switek trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Switek throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Switek seems keen to control Shaw's posture. Switek has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Shaw in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Switek wants to sweep here but Shaw controlling him for the moment. Switek is trying to control the position but Shaw postures up. Switek is really struggling to control Shaw but he's trying to hold on to the position. Switek has his foot on Shaw's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shaw works his way back into a safe position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Switek is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Shaw avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Switek. Shaw missing with punches from the bottom.
Shaw regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Switek. Switek keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Shaw's head. Shaw keeping full guard, as Switek tries to pass.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shaw keeping moving, preventing Switek from controlling successfully. Shaw wants to sweep but no luck. Switek trying to control the position from guard on top but Shaw is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Shaw tries to clinch there but Switek circles away.
Switek throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Shaw tries for a takedown but Switek sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Switek!
Switek misses with a takedown attempt - Shaw sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Shaw throws a left and a right that both miss
and Switek counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shaw lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Switek! Shaw fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Switek takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Switek is trying to stand up. Shaw prevents Switek from getting the reversal. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Switek trying desperately to get to his feet.
Shaw blocks Switek's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kevin Switek dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Shaw fails miserably with a takedown attempt. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Switek. Switek misses with a jab, cross combination.
Switek throws a one two combo.
Switek lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Shaw. Switek swats away the attempt to clinch by Shaw. Switek fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Shaw. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Switek scoring well with a low kick there.
Shaw takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Kevin Switek is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Switek drives through and clinches with Shaw against the cage.
Shaw tries to score a body lock takedown but Switek shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Kevin Switek has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chad Shaw. Switek gets underhooks to prevent Shaw's takedown attempt.
Switek is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Switek letting Shaw take a breather here. Switek breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Switek doesn't manage to clinch there - Shaw circles away.
Shaw throws a head kick but Switek moves out of range.
Shaw misses with a takedown attempt and Switek counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Switek tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Shaw swivels and escapes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Switek stuffs the takedown attempt from Shaw. Shaw gets slowly back to his feet. Shaw throws a left and a right that both miss
and Switek moves into the clinch. Switek breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Switek tries to clinch and Shaw holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Shaw drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Shaw throws an elbow that misses.
Switek gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Shaw.
Shaw keeps control of Switek as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Switek wants to break the clinch but can't.
Shaw is trying desperately to land a takedown but Switek is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Shaw. Switek wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Shaw is trying to drag Switek to the mat but Switek just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Shaw fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Switek trying to stall but Shaw improves his position.
Switek is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Shaw pulls him back up using the underhooks. Shaw drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

A nice right hand lands inside from Switek. Switek is trying to break the clinch but Shaw has him pressed against the cage. Shaw has hold of one of Switek's legs. Switek is fighting the takedown attempt but Shaw gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Shaw trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Switek throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shaw with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Shaw prevents Switek from getting back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shaw thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Shaw makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Switek is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Shaw gets to his feet. Switek looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Switek lands a body shot.
Switek stuffs the takedown attempt from Shaw. Shaw gets slowly back to his feet. Shaw walks into a jab. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kevin Switek dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Shaw takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Switek misses with a takedown attempt and Shaw finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Shaw shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Switek connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Left hook, right uppercut from Switek. Nice uppercut lands for Switek. That snapped Shaw's head back.
Nice sprawl there from Switek as Shaw shoots in. Shaw feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Shaw wants to control from the top but Switek keeps moving. Switek looking to control.
Switek is striking from the bottom but Shaw uses the opportunity to pass into half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Switek tries to kick Shaw off but Shaw keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Switek keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Shaw is pressing down on Switek's thigh, looking to free his foot. Switek is holding on for now. Switek wants to get back to his feet.

Shaw closes the distance and clinches up with Switek, looking for a takedown. Shaw pushes Switek against the cage but Switek circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Switek lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Shaw backs up against the cage.
Chad Shaw seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shaw misses with a combination
and Switek counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Switek with a hook. Shaw shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Switek fails to land the takedown. Switek connects with a right hand. Shaw shakes it off. No luck for Switek with that takedown attempt. Shaw fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Switek, pushing him back against the cage. Shaw gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Switek.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shaw has Switek pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Switek manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Switek pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Shaw closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Shaw lands in his opponent's guard. Switek trying to control the position.
Shaw stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Switek swivels though and keeps the full guard. Switek is trying to control the position but Shaw postures up. Shaw must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shaw preventing the sweep. Shaw prevents Switek from getting back to his feet. Shaw postures up and lands a big shot to Switek's brow. Kevin Switek is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Switek wants to stand and escape but Shaw is having none of it. Switek avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Shaw shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Switek pinned against the cage. Switek gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Chad Shaw has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Shaw gets a clinch. Shaw is leaning against Switek and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
And that's the end of the fight! Chad Shaw comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Switek has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
