Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Todd Jonhson (ranked 4585 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leonardo Moraes (ranked 3829 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Todd Jonhson has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Todd Jonhson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Leonardo Moraes!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Joseph Jones and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jonhson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Jonhson half committed to a counter leg kick.
Jonhson shoots for a takedown but Moraes saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Jonhson throws a head kick but Moraes moves out of range.
Moraes swings for the body but Jonhson moves out of range.

Moraes has closed the distance and engaged Jonhson in a clinch.
Moraes stalling against the cage.

Moraes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A good leg kick by Moraes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jonhson throws a head kick that misses.

Moraes manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Jonhson on his heels. He'll look to pass Jonhson's guard now, I'm sure.

Jonhson scrambles and gets back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Moraes clinches.

Jonhson throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Moraes keeps control of Jonhson as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Jonhson wants to take the fight to the mat but Moraes manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Moraes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A chopping leg kick lands by Jonhson.
Moraes misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Jonhson.
Jonhson drops down looking for a counter takedown but Moraes sprawls and moves away.

Moraes feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Jonhson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Moraes is controlling him.

Jonhson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Moraes is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jonhson is on top in guard.

Moraes is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Moraes utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Jonhson forces his way into half guard.

Moraes kicks off Jonhson and gets to his feet.

Moraes forces Jonhson back against the cage and clinches.
Jonhson is trying to pull guard but Moraes has him pressed against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Todd Jonhson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jonhson is breathing heavily.
Jonhson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Moraes is working away from the top position though.

Moraes postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Jonhson to stand up.

and Moraes moves into the clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Moraes stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Jonhson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Moraes shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Jonhson pushes Moraes off and gets back to his feet.

Moraes decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jonhson misses with a low kick as Moraes jumps back.
Jonhson is looking to clinch.

Moraes has taken the fight to the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Moraes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jonhson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Moraes but Moraes pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Moraes looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Moraes drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Jonhson dives on top into guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Jonhson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Moraes backs up against the cage.

Jonhson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Moraes closes the distance and pushes Jonhson back into the cage.

Moraes holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Jonhson tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Moraes tries to hold on but Jonhson pushes him away.

Jonhson has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
I really don't envy Moraes right now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Moraes keeps trying to improve his position.
Moraes's corner are yelling at him, telling him to just focus on controlling Jonhson's hands.
Jonhson thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
Moraes is trying to stand back up.
Moraes looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jonhson misses with punches from the back.
Moraes trying to control the hands but Jonhson breaks the grip.

Jonhson has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Moraes has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Moraes wants to control his opponent's hands but Jonhson gets his hands free.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Moraes tries to break free.
Jonhson is landing with strikes. Moraes can't take much more of this.
Moraes trying to get back to his feet but Jonhson is in full control for now.
Moraes wants to escape the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Jonhson is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Moraes tries to roll but Jonhson sticks to his back.

And that's the end of the fight!
Todd Jonhson showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Jonhson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
