Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Spude Pulkkinen (ranked 1983 p4p, 273 weight class) and Valentin Saric (ranked 2673 p4p, 340 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 1, fighting out of New York, Spude Pulkkinen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Valentin Saric! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Donald Grub and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Saric closes the distance and clinches up with Pulkkinen, looking for a takedown. Saric pushes Pulkkinen against the cage but Pulkkinen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Pulkkinen throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Saric stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Pulkkinen slips under a jab from Saric. Pulkkinen swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Saric looks to throw the jab but Pulkkinen is out of range. Saric avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Saric clobbers Pulkkinen with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Pulkkinen connects with an inside leg kick. Saric throws a body punch but Pulkkinen moves out of range. A big right from Pulkkinen misses. Saric takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Saric slips under a jab from Pulkkinen. Saric fails with the takedown. Pulkkinen takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Saric misses with a looping right. Pulkkinen circles away from the clinch attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Saric swings for the body but Pulkkinen moves out of range.
Pulkkinen was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. A slow jab from Pulkkinen misses its intended target. Pulkkinen lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Saric gets a double leg takedown into Pulkkinen's guard. Saric stands and throws Pulkkinen's legs to the side, diving into side control. Pulkkinen is trying to control Saric's posture but Saric avoids it. Pulkkinen is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Saric is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Pulkkinen has escaped the position, nice work there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Saric is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pulkkinen knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Saric goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Pulkkinen has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Saric but great work by Pulkkinen.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pulkkinen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Saric keeps working. Saric is trying to improve his position. Pulkkinen trying to control the position but Saric is working away. Pulkkinen working away. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Saric is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Pulkkinen is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Saric is wriggling around trying to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Saric slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Pulkkinen wants to control but Saric is keeping him busy. Saric is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Pulkkinen trying to control the action but Saric is working from the bottom. Saric looking for submissions off his back. Pulkkinen wants to pass to mount but Saric is defending the position. Pulkkinen performing his best blanket impression for a moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Spude Pulkkinen will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Saric counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Pulkkinen throws a leg kick that misses. Pulkkinen throws a leg kick but Saric checks it. Pulkkinen connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Pulkkinen is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Saric's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems. Pulkkinen throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Pulkkinen throws a front kick aimed at Saric's knee but Saric avoids it well. Pulkkinen keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Saric. Pulkkinen tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Saric was well out of range. Poor timing from Pulkkinen. Saric is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pulkkinen displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Saric throws out the jab. No joy there for Saric, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Saric is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Pulkkinen throws a wild body kick that Saric sees coming a mile off. Pulkkinen tries to sprawl but Saric drives through with a takedown into half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pulkkinen makes his way to full guard, as Saric worked for a kimura.

Pulkkinen has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Saric can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Pulkkinen keeping full guard, as Saric tries to pass. Saric thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Saric trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Saric wants to control from the top but Pulkkinen keeps moving. Pulkkinen has his foot on Saric's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Saric works his way back into a safe position though. Pulkkinen keeping moving, preventing Saric from controlling successfully. Pulkkinen looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Saric trying to control the position from guard on top but Pulkkinen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Pulkkinen trying to keep a closed guard but Saric is proving a slippery customer.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Pulkkinen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Saric drops back looking for a leg! Pulkkinen is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pulkkinen manages to kick Saric off! Saric jumps back into Pulkkinen's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Saric got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pulkkinen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Saric has managed to get both his arms back between Pulkkinen's legs - danger averted. Saric trying to control but Pulkkinen is working from the bottom. Saric tries to free his leg and advance position but Pulkkinen is retaining full guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Saric shoots in for a takedown but Pulkkinen shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. A little feinted left hand from Pulkkinen on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Saric scores with a jab. Saric tries to close the distance and clinch but Pulkkinen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Saric misses with an uppercut. Pulkkinen saw that one coming. Pulkkinen tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Saric was well out of range. Poor timing from Pulkkinen.

Valentin Saric seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Saric swings and misses with a shot to the body and Pulkkinen counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Pulkkinen is looking to slow Saric down with leg kicks. Pulkkinen's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Saric connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! It looks like Valentin Saric has been cut. Saric throws an off balance right hand
and Pulkkinen counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Saric checks a low kick from Pulkkinen. A shot to the body from Saric misses letting Pulkkinen counter with a right hand. Pulkkinen takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Spude Pulkkinen will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Valentin Saric's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Saric fails to land the takedown. Pulkkinen throws a leg kick which misses Saric's front leg but catches the back leg as Saric tries to avoid it. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Saric, as that shot connected.
Saric has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off. A decent looking cross lands there for Saric. Pulkkinen clobbers Saric with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Saric moves out of range as Pulkkinen strikes. and Pulkkinen holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Pulkkinen scores with a nice hook to the head. Pulkkinen's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Pulkkinen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Pulkkinen keeping moving, preventing Saric from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pulkkinen has control of Saric's left arm, preventing Saric from doing any damage. Pulkkinen controls Saric momentarily but Saric frees himself. Valentin Saric has got the better of the ground game so far. Saric trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Spude Pulkkinen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Saric throws a lazy uppercut

That's three minutes gone in the round. A telegraphed right hand from Saric misses the target. Pulkkinen appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick. Saric's corner calls for a 1-2. Saric obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Saric has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Pulkkinen connects with a body shot. Saric misses with a hook. Pulkkinen swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Pulkkinen connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Pulkkinen ducks right into an uppercut from Saric. Saric moves out of range of the body kick. A looping hook to the body misses from Saric. Pulkkinen does a little dance to reset his feet. Pulkkinen throwing a counter right hand but Saric manages to avoid it. Saric takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Pulkkinen smells blood - he's punishing Saric with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Saric has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:12 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Spude Pulkkinen! An out of breath Spude Pulkkinen thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
