Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cleon Wright (ranked 1987 p4p, 264 weight class) and John Kordic (ranked 2695 p4p, 333 weight class). Kordic is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Sleep Now In The Fire. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kordic throws a left and a right that both miss
and Wright counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Kordic throws a poor cross that misses
and Wright counters with a stiff right hand.
It looks like John Kordic has been cut.
Kordic uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Wright.
Wright has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Wright throws a body punch but Kordic moves out of range.
Wright throws a wild body kick that Kordic sees coming a mile off.
Wright missing with a left hand there. Kordic was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Wright is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kordic.
Kordic stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Wright.

Kordic lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Cleon Wright is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kordic throws a quick inside leg kick.
Wright shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Kordic scores with a head kick. Wright tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Wright.
Kordic slips a jab from Wright.
Wright misses with a looping right.
A jab from Kordic does it's job there.
Kordic lands a slapping body shot.
Wright gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kordic to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Kordic slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Kordic pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wright is keeping the position for now.

John Kordic dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Kordic lands a head kick. Wright smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Kordic uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Wright.
Kordic looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Wright takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Kordic tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Wright paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Kordic avoids the body shot from Wright.
Kordic has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Wright moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Wright throws out a loose jab but Kordic uses good head movement to avoid it.
Wright misses with an uppercut.
Kordic checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Wright looks to score with a jab to the body but Kordic is just out of range.
Kordic swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kordic throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kordic throws a push kick but Wright slaps the foot to one side.
Wright avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A counter left hand to the body from Wright misses its target.
Kordic throws a lazy uppercut
and Wright counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Kordic throws a leg kick but Wright sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Kordic, right into the meat.

Wright punishes Kordic's body with a nice straight punch.
A head kick misses from Kordic.
Kordic is looking to land body kicks.
Wright is looking to counter punch.
Wright connects with a body shot.
Kordic pulls out of a head kick attempt.
John Kordic seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Kordic lands a head kick!
Wright lands with a straight right. Kordic didn't see that one coming.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Wright, as that shot connected.
Wright misses with a wild body shot.
Kordic takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Kordic fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kordic shoots in for a takedown but Wright shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Kordic moves into the clinch.
With the fighters clinched against the ropes, Kordic creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Kordic misses with a short punch on the inside.
Wright wants to get back to striking at distance but Kordic won't allow it.
Wright breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Wright loads up on a big right hand but Kordic slips the punch.
Wright misses with an uppercut. Kordic saw that one coming.
Wright fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Kordic throws the left hand but Wright avoids the punch easily.
Wright throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kordic sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Wright throws a nice looking combination but Kordic bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Wright slips under a jab from Kordic.
Wright cracks Kordic with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the ropes.
Wright lands a leg kick that knocks Kordic off balance momentarily.
Wright fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Kordic on the side of the head.
Kordic is rocked!
Wright finds Kordic's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Kordic flops back against the ropes, eyes gazing into the distance. Wright lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Kordic will be OK.
