The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snyman looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Trussell darts in looking for a takedown but Snyman gets double underhooks and turns Trussell into the cage.
Trussell misses with a takedown attempt - Snyman sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Trussell displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Snyman.

Trussell closes the distance and clinches.
Snyman has Trussell pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Trussell manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Trussell lands a nice shot to the body.

Trussell breaks from the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Snyman clinches up with Trussell and pushes him back against the cage.

The referee asks Trussell politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Trussell prefers to stall for the moment though.

Trussell tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Trussell has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Trussell thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Trussell is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Snyman avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Trussell.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
It looks like Trussell might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Trussell decides to stand up, so the ref orders Snyman to his feet.

Well Trussell has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
