Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Winford Kemp! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Liam Bruin! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Patrick Alders and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bruin drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Kemp has his feet on Bruin's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Bruin closes the distance and pushes Kemp back into the cage. Bruin has picked Kemp up - he's going for a ride! Bruin dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Kemp might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bruin not landing any meaningful shots this time. Bruin trying to control the action but Kemp is working from the bottom. Bruin passes to full mount! Kemp is trying desperately to improve position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kemp is squirming around, avoiding Bruin's attempts to control the action. Kemp is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kemp slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Kemp tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Bruin has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Bruin moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Kemp has worked his arm free - good work by Kemp!
Kemp tries to improve position but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kemp is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Kemp looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Kemp pushes Bruin off looking to stand but Bruin dives back in and keeps control.
Kemp kicks off Bruin and gets to his feet. Bruin closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kemp quickly recovers to half guard. Kemp manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Bruin keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Bruin tries to stall but Kemp uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Kemp is fighting off a takedown attempt but Bruin is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Kemp to the mat. Kemp regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Kemp working for a triangle but Bruin defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kemp is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Bruin frees his head nicely. Oh but Kemp has switched to an armbar! Bruin is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
