Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Leonardo Moraes (ranked 4489 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hakkamunoi Phouthong (ranked 6102 p4p, 0 weight class). Leonardo Moraes had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Leonardo Moraes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hakkamunoi Phouthong! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, John Roberts and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Phouthong swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Phouthong looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Phouthong shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Moraes pinned against the cage. Moraes gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Moraes shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Moraes tries to pass to full mount but Phouthong defends it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Moraes drops an elbow to the side of Phouthong's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Moraes stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Phouthong to get to his feet. Phouthong wants to clinch and Moraes counters with a nice double leg into side control. Phouthong won't be happy with that. Phouthong takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. An elbow from Moraes crashes against the mat.
Moraes working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Moraes tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Moraes has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Check out the look on Moraes's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Moraes scoring with punches and elbows. Phouthong wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Moraes tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Moraes has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Moraes controlling from side mount. Moraes stands up and beckons Phouthong to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Moraes dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Moraes looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Moraes wants to stand but Phouthong has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Moraes pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Phouthong is keeping the position for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Moraes working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Moraes wants to pass the guard but Phouthong is keeping the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Moraes scoring with punches to the head and body. Moraes gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. We've been informed that Phouthong has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Moraes has managed to clinch.
Moraes creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Moraes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Moraes pulls guard. Leonardo Moraes overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Moraes is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Moraes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Moraes tries to pass the half guard into mount. Phouthong knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Phouthong is breathing heavily. Moraes decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Phouthong gets tackled into the cage by Moraes. Moraes maintains the clinch. Phouthong looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Phouthong is trying to pull guard but Moraes has him pressed against the cage. Moraes's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Moraes instigates a clinch. Moraes is trying to trip Phouthong. He has hold of a leg but Phouthong is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Moraes persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Moraes sitting in guard here, content to control. Phouthong is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Moraes defends well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Moraes sitting in guard, not really doing much. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Moraes is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Phouthong can do to turn this around?
That's three minutes gone in the round. Moraes has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Phouthong gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Phouthong trying to keep a closed guard but Moraes is proving a slippery customer.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Moraes's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Moraes stands up over Phouthong, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Moraes drives through with a takedown into guard. Moraes stays in close to Phouthong's body and controls the position. Phouthong will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Phouthong is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Moraes stands and steps away. Phouthong gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Moraes throws a sloppy head kick and Phouthong moves out of range easily. Phouthong takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Moraes darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Moraes stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
That's one minute gone in the round. Moraes shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Phouthong manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Moraes controls from within his opponent's guard. Moraes stopping the sweep attempt from Phouthong.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Moraes gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Moraes looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Phouthong! Phouthong is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Moraes decides to stand back up. Moraes steps back and let's Phouthong get back to his feet. Moraes closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Moraes is looking to take this one to the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Moraes tries to pull guard but Phouthong forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Moraes drags the fight down to the ground.
Moraes has Phouthong pulled in close to control his posture. Moraes looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Phouthong puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Moraes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Phouthong on the ground. Moraes controlling the position for now. Phouthong is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Moraes is trying is best to control the position here. Moraes wants to get back to his feet.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Moraes gets a double leg takedown into Phouthong's guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Phouthong is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that's the end of the fight! Leonardo Moraes showed his dominance in that final round. Well Moraes has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
