The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Daniel Blasius and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Mir looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Mathis circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mir tries to clinch but Mathis is having none of it.
Mathis is looking for a counter combo.

and Mathis counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Mathis is in close to Mir's body, working some short punches and elbows.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Mathis cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Mathis postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Mir looks a forlorn figure.
Mathis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
