The bell rings for round one and we are underway! O'Phoenix shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. O'Phoenix looking to pass the guard. O'Phoenix slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Odrobny tries to escape but O'Phoenix is in control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. O'Phoenix is trying to get an arm triangle but Odrobny is defending well. Odrobny wants to get back to his feet. O'Phoenix wants to control but Odrobny is keeping him busy. Odrobny is trying to get back to his feet. O'Phoenix in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Odrobny is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Patrick O'Phoenix! After the fight, Patrick O'Phoenix was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
