Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Abbott! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chuck Lee! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Emerson Jorge and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A slow jab from Abbott misses its intended target. Lee swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Lee misses with a looping right. Abbott lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Abbott throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Lee changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Abbott lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Abbott throws a looping overhand right but Lee ducks down to avoid it. Lee ducks right into an uppercut from Abbott. Abbott looks to land a right hand but Lee moved out of range. Lee let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Abbott pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Jason Abbott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Abbott avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Lee tries to clinch there but Abbott circles away.
Abbott appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Abbott looks to throw the jab but Lee is out of range. Abbott misses with a straight right. A little jabbing left from Lee on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Abbott bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Lee comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Lee moves out of range of the strikes. Lee looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lee throws a body punch but Abbott moves out of range. Abbott avoids the body shot from Lee.
Lee fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Abbott manages to avoid it. Lee works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Abbott waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Lee. Lee fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Lee is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Abbott rather than just go for the knockout. Abbott lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Lee backs up against the ropes.
Lee fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. A big left from Lee misses. Abbott connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Lee keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Abbott. Lee looks like he wants to counter punch here. Abbott is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Lee misses with a looping right. Abbott throwing a counter right hand but Lee manages to avoid it. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Lee misses with a wild body shot. Lee wants to clinch and Abbott counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Lee is rocked! Lee walks straight into devastating uppercut and drops to the floor, clearly wobbled! Can he beat the count? 4,5,6,7... he's up! And he's down again! The ref steps in and calls an end to the fight! What a punch that was!
