Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gareth Colton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yuri Boyka!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boyka misses with a takedown
enabling Colton to counter with a crisp jab.
Colton has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Yuri Boyka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Colton cracks Boyka with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Colton throws a head kick that misses.
Boyka with a lazy takedown attempt
and Colton counters with a stiff right hand.
Boyka looks to land a left hand but Colton moved out of range nicely.
Colton drops down looking for a counter takedown but Boyka sprawls and moves away.
Some bone on bone action there as Colton checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Boyka misses with a lunging right hand
and Colton counters with a slapping leg kick.
Boyka paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Boyka swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Colton counters with a nice uppercut.
Colton takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Colton lands with a right hand.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Boyka misses with a double jab
and Colton counters with a straight right hand.
Boyka misses with a takedown
and Colton counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Gareth Colton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yuri Boyka.
Colton feints a jab promting Boyka to slip. Colton then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Boyka slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Colton darts in and clinches Boyka up against the cage.

Colton's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
We've been informed that Boyka has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Colton steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Boyka.

Colton cracks Boyka with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Boyka looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Colton finish him?


Boyka is rocked!

Boyka tries to keep at a distance but Colton has taken the fight into the clinch.
Boyka is still on wobbly legs! Can Colton finish him?
Boyka throws an elbow that misses.
Boyka seems to have recovered his senses.
Boyka throws an elbow that misses.
With the fighters up against the cage, Boyka throws an elbow but misses.
Boyka throws an elbow that misses.

Colton pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Colton smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Colton misses with the combination.
Colton avoids a punch combination nicely.
Boyka tries for a takedown but Colton circles away easily
and Colton counters with a nice uppercut.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Boyka.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A chopping leg kick lands by Colton.
Boyka misses with a double jab
and Colton cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Boyka misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Colton connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Gareth Colton is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Boyka doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Colton counters with a nice uppercut.
Boyka takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Boyka missing with a left hand there. Colton was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Colton ducks right into an uppercut from Boyka.
Boyka throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Colton's waist but Colton gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Boyka off to one side.
It looked like Colton was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Boyka.
Boyka looks winded!
Boyka with a poor takedown
and Colton counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Boyka looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Colton appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Boyka throws a lazy uppercut
and Colton counters with a crisp right that sends Boyka to the canvas! Colton follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gareth Colton!
An out of breath Gareth Colton thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
