Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Duggan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eli Straw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duggan's entrance music is HOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!. A fine choice. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jim Duggan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Eli Straw!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Straw misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Straw throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Straw works over Duggan's head and body with a nice combination.
Duggan shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Straw counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Straw.
Duggan drops down looking for an ankle pick but Straw pulls his leg out and moves away.
Duggan shoots and misses
and Straw counters with a two punch combo.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jim Duggan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Duggan misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Duggan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Straw will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Straw scores with the left hand. Duggan knows he should have avoided that one.
Duggan tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Straw swivels and escapes.
Duggan is breathing heavily.
Duggan with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Straw to score with a decent uppercut.

Straw shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Straw was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Duggan taking shots to the head.
Straw takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Let's hope that Straw has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Straw lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Straw really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Duggan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Duggan tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Despite being in the dominant position, Eli Straw just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Duggan shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Duggan was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Straw looks out of his depth in this position - he's holding on tight.
Straw tries to hold on but Duggan pushes him away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Duggan lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Duggan with shots to the head and body - Straw looks very uncomfortable down there.
Poor strikes thrown by Duggan there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Straw is desperately trying to improve his position but Duggan has a good base and remains in mount.
Straw is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Duggan is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Straw is looking to improve his position but Duggan isn't that keen on the idea.
Duggan lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Straw hang on?
Duggan cracks Straw with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Straw is trying desperately to improve position.
Duggan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Straw has left one of his arms exposed and Duggan doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Straw screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
