Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Lucifer Evo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Toturi Akodo! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Chris Dean and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Evo is looking to clinch. Akodo throws out a counter right but Evo avoids it with no problem. We've been informed that Akodo has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Akodo tries to move into range but Evo moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Evo cracks Akodo with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Evo clobbers Akodo with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Evo lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Evo looks to throw the jab but Akodo is out of range. Evo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Akodo swats him away and circles back towards the center. We've been told by Evo's head coaches at House of Pain that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Akodo takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Evo fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Akodo manages to avoid it. Akodo circles away from the clinch attempt.
Evo lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. A big right from Evo misses. Evo misses with a shot to the body and Akodo counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Evo misses with a jab to the body
and Akodo counters with a left and a right that stings Evo. Akodo takes a swing at Evo's ribcage but misses. Evo is looking to counter punch. Akodo cracks Evo on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Evo falls backwards against the cage. Akodo follows up with more strikes that drop Evo to his knees. Akodo keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Evo! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Toturi Akodo! An out of breath Toturi Akodo thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
