Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ryu Aokison (ranked 2199 p4p, 276 weight class) and Rich Wood (ranked 2059 p4p, 262 weight class). Aokison comes into the arena with Caroline blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryu Aokison! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rich Wood! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Gregory Folan and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aokison slips a jab from Wood. Wood misses with an uppercut
and Aokison counters with a nice low kick that buckles Wood's knee momentarily. Aokison avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Rich Wood seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Aokison checks a leg kick. A little feinted left hand from Aokison on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Wood throws a shot from downtown. Aokison moves away and avoids it. Aokison slips under a jab. Aokison works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Wood throws a lazy uppercut
and Wood takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Aokison drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wood is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wood gets back to half guard. Wood is trying to stand back up but Aokison is controlling him
Wood has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Wood is staying active underneath Aokison, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Wood throws a lazy head kick and Aokison connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Wood throws a hook but Aokison blocks it. Aokison takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Wood misses with a body shot.
Aokison was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Aokison changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wood looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Aokison looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wood is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Wood tries to roll over but Aokison keeps him under control. That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Aokison is trying to control the action in half guard but Wood is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Aokison perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Wood wants to get back to full guard. Aokison scoring with strikes to the body and head. Ryu Aokison is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Aokison tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Rich Wood has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
And that's the end of the fight! Ryu Aokison showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Aokison, winning every round. Will the judges agree?
