Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Dannie Robles! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ali Habb! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Steven Brown and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Habb tries to keep at a distance but Robles has taken the fight into the clinch. Habb has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Robles regains guard immediately. Robles keeping moving, preventing Habb from controlling successfully. Habb is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Habb throwing strikes but missing. Robles lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Robles lands a couple of digs. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Habb working for a triangle but Robles defends it easily.
Habb throws some shots to the body, keeping his opponent honest.
That's one minute gone in the round. Robles postures up.
Robles with a nice head shot there. Habb trying to keep a closed guard but Robles is proving a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Habb is looking for a triangle here but Robles uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Habb is looking for a sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Robles lands a decent elbow from side control. Robles scores with punches from side control. Robles lands some shots froms side control. Robles works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Habb looks winded! The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Robles gets to mount! Habb was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Habb is desperately trying to improve his position but Robles has a good base and remains in mount. Robles lands a nice shot to the head. Robles working away from the top, dropping strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Robles in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
You get the feeling that Habb really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Habb keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Robles looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Habb is in a horrible position here. Robles smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Robles pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Robles swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
