PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Klaus Chugman (ranked 1012 p4p, 49 weight class) and Jonathan Davis (ranked 1097 p4p, 55 weight class). Davis has chosen Imperial March (L.O.D. Rage Mix) as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Klaus Chugman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 1, fighting out of New York, Jonathan Davis!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Igor Prikhodko and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chugman looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Davis stuffs the takedown attempt from Chugman. Chugman gets slowly back to his feet.
A shot to the liver by Davis. Beautiful body shot.
Chugman fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Davis manages to avoid it.
Some wild striking there from Davis.
Davis throws a nice looking combination but Chugman bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Chugman shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Davis manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Davis kicks Chugman off and gets to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
No luck for Chugman with that takedown attempt.
Davis connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Chugman tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Davis manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Chugman manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Davis on his heels. He'll look to pass Davis's guard now, I'm sure.
Chugman might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Chugman is fighting to break Davis's control of his arms but Davis is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Chugman wants to control from the top but Davis keeps moving.
Davis pulls Chugman in close to prevent any damage.
Davis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chugman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Chugman controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Chugman clinches with his opponent.

Chugman fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Klaus Chugman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Chugman is trying to pull guard but Davis has him pressed against the cage.
Davis lands with a short shot to the head.
Davis lands a shoulder strike.
Davis misses with a body punch.
Chugman jumps guard but Davis stands there with Chugman around his waist. Chugman gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Chugman tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Davis just stands there and leans against the cage.
Davis prevents Chugman from breaking the clinch.
Davis lands a left hand.

Davis is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Chugman tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Davis engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Davis trying to control but Chugman is working from the bottom.
Davis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Chugman had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Davis defends it easily.

Chugman is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Chugman is on top in guard.

Davis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Davis defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Chugman.
Chugman shoots for a takedown but Davis saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Davis throws out a counter right but Chugman avoids it with no problem.
Davis throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Davis moves away from the strike by Chugman.
Davis jabs Chugman to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Chugman looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Chugman looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Chugman wants to work for an arm triangle but Davis is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
We've been hearing that Chugman has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chugman is pressing down on Davis's thigh, looking to free his foot. Davis is holding on for now.

Chugman uses his free foot to push down on Davis's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Davis.

Davis defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Chugman.

Chugman goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Davis turns into him and now he's in Chugman's guard.

Chugman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Davis doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Davis manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Chugman is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Davis fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Chugman tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Davis paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Jonathan Davis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Davis's corner calls for a 1-2. Davis obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Davis throws a series of strikes that have Chugman backpedaling.
Chugman darts in looking for a takedown but Davis gets double underhooks and turns Chugman into the cage.
Davis has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Davis scores with a jab to the head.

Davis lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Chugman backs up against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Davis seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Chugman throws a body punch but Davis moves out of range.
Nice uppercut lands for Davis. That snapped Chugman's head back.
Davis swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Davis is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
A big right from Davis misses.
Davis digs a good body shot into Chugman's ribs.

Chugman has Davis up against the cage in a clinch.
Chugman fails to pull guard.

Chugman manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Chugman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Davis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Klaus Chugman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Davis wants to control from the top but Chugman keeps moving.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jonathan Davis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Davis has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
