Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shane Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phobos Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Velasquez comes to the cage accompanied by Down with Shane. Shane Velasquez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shane Velasquez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Phobos Carter! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Russell Pearce and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carter looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Velasquez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Carter gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Carter slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Carter is looking to take a break and control but Velasquez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Carter wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Velasquez, who protects the arm well. Carter is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Velasquez has escaped the position, nice work there. Carter wants to control but Velasquez is keeping him busy. Carter tries to advance to mount but Velasquez denies him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Velasquez can't do much from the bottom here. Carter is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Velasquez knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Velasquez is trying to control Carter's posture but Carter avoids it. Carter wants to lay and pray for a moment but Velasquez keeps working.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Carter shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Carter was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Velasquez bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carter working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Velasquez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Velasquez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Velasquez trying to control the position from guard on top but Carter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Carter is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Velasquez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carter swivels though and keeps the full guard. Velasquez drops back looking for a leg! Carter is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Carter manages to kick Velasquez off! Velasquez jumps back into Carter's guard. Velasquez is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Velasquez stopping the sweep attempt from Carter.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Velasquez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown so Carter counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Carter trying to control but Velasquez is working from the bottom. Carter is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Carter wanted to stand there but Velasquez had control of the position. Carter is looking to work some ground and pound but Velasquez has wrist control. Carter thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carter looking to pass the guard. Velasquez has his foot on Carter's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carter works his way back into a safe position though. Velasquez can't keep his opponent in guard - Carter advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Velasquez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Velasquez avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Carter. Carter wants to control but Velasquez is keeping him busy. Velasquez wants to control but Carter is keeping busy.
Carter is looking to advance position but Velasquez won't allow it. Carter is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Phobos Carter dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Velasquez misses with a takedown and Carter counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Velasquez's guard now. Velasquez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carter can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Carter postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Velasquez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Carter doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Carter manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Carter stands and throws Velasquez's legs to the side, diving into side control. Carter wants to control but Velasquez is keeping him busy. Carter looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Velasquez is looking for a sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carter is looking to take a break and control but Velasquez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Carter has an Americana. Velasquez didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Carter is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Carter hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
