Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Johnny Devira!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladamir Emelianenko!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emelianenko misses with a double jab
and Devira counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Devira digs a good hook to Emelianenko's body.
Devira throws a head kick that misses.
Emelianenko changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Vladamir Emelianenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Devira lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Emelianenko at a distance.
Emelianenko lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Devira will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Emelianenko stuffs the takedown.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Emelianenko! But no joy.
Devira shoots in looking for a takedown. Emelianenko tries to sprawl out of it but Devira keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Emelianenko manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Devira dives in and grabs Emelianenko's left leg, looking for a takedown. Emelianenko pushes down on Devira's head and hops out.
Devira is breathing heavily.

Emelianenko fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Devira sprawls well initially but Emelianenko persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Devira wants to stand back up but Emelianenko manages to pass into side control.
Emelianenko wants to lay and pray for a moment but Devira keeps working.

Devira is looking to regain half guard here but Emelianenko keeps moving and retains side control.

Emelianenko is looking to take a break and control but Devira is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Devira knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Emelianenko on the ground.

Emelianenko postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Devira is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Emelianenko, into his guard.

Our spies down at at Russian Bears Training Center inform us that Emelianenko has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Devira accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Emelianenko looking to hit a scissor sweep but Devira is one step ahead there.

Devira throws a strike but Emelianenko rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Emelianenko has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Devira has his feet on Emelianenko's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Devira shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Devira is defended easily by Emelianenko.

Emelianenko shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Devira manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Emelianenko lands a couple of elbows.
Emelianenko wants to control from the top but Devira keeps moving.
Emelianenko tries to free his leg and advance position but Devira is retaining full guard.

Devira looking for a sweep. Not yet Devira, not yet.

Vladamir Emelianenko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Devira with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Emelianenko to score with a decent uppercut.

Emelianenko has hold of Devira's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Devira manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Devira is desperately trying to improve his position but Emelianenko has a good base and remains in mount.

Emelianenko has isolated one of Devira's arms. Devira looking to fight him off but Emelianenko twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
