Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Wilfredo Martinez (ranked 24326 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leo Valiant (ranked 7551 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martinez moves into the clinch.
Martinez's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Martinez darts in and clinches Valiant up against the cage.
Martinez fails to pull guard.
Valiant works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Martinez uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Valiant shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Martinez pushes Valiant off and gets back to his feet.
Wilfredo Martinez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Martinez closes the distance and clinches up with Valiant, looking for a takedown. Martinez pushes Valiant against the cage but Valiant circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Valiant drops back, looking for a kneebar! Martinez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Martinez looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Martinez!

Martinez is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Martinez slips a nice elbow through Valiant's hands, connecting with Valiant's forehead.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
