Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Otis Camacho! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Israel Montanyo! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Donald Grub and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No joy there for Montanyo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Montanyo throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Camacho looks for a takedown but Montanyo sprawls well. No joy there for Montanyo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Camacho rushes Montanyo and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Camacho jumps guard.
Montanyo gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Israel Montanyo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Montanyo lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Camacho circles away quickly and effectively. Camacho changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Camacho showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Montanyo.
Camacho went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Montanyo drops Camacho with a left right combo! Montanyo follows him down to the ground into side control.
It looks like Otis Camacho has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Montanyo throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Camacho is trying to get an arm triangle but Montanyo is defending well. Montanyo is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Camacho asserts his dominance and retains side control. Camacho wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Montanyo, who protects the arm well. Camacho thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Montanyo is pushing Camacho's head away, looking to escape. Camacho manages to hold on to the position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Camacho is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Montanyo knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Camacho looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Camacho is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Montanyo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Camacho is breathing heavily. Camacho is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Montanyo knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Montanyo wants to get back to his feet but Camacho drags him back down.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Camacho tries for a kimura but Montanyo is defending well.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Camacho tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Montanyo is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Camacho tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Camacho has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Montanyo can do anything to dispel that myth. Camacho is trying to get an arm triangle but Montanyo is defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Montanyo pushes Camacho away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Camacho gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Camacho fails to land the takedown. Montanyo misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Camacho changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Montanyo drops Camacho with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Camacho! Montanyo dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Israel Montanyo! A very excited looking Israel Montanyo rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
