Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Leonardo Moraes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, Jamil Westwood! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Franklyn Lucas and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Westwood misses with a takedown attempt and Moraes counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Moraes. A bit of stalling here from Moraes.
Moraes prevents Westwood from breaking the clinch. Moraes pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Moraes closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Moraes is stalling here. Westwood is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Moraes seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Westwood has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Westwood trying to control the position but Moraes is working away. Westwood misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Westwood thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Moraes is trying to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Westwood moves into full mount! Westwood pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Westwood trying to control but Moraes is having none of it. Westwood controlling the pace for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Westwood trying to control but Moraes is having none of it. Moraes trying desperately to get to his feet.
Westwood controlling from mount. Moraes tries to hold on but Westwood postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Moraes is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. Moraes might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Westwood tries to control but Moraes wriggling away. Westwood might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Moraes haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Moraes throwing hammer fists to the chest of Westwood. What's that going to do exactly? The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Westwood punching from mount but Moraes doing a good job of avoiding damage. Westwood is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Moraes is looking to improve his position but Westwood isn't that keen on the idea. Westwood is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Moraes is surviving well by controlling Westwood's body position as best he can. Westwood looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Moraes wants to hold on but Westwood pushes him away. Westwood looking to control but Moraes is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Westwood looking to finish with strikes here!

Jamil Westwood dominated that round. That's time! Moraes's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Westwood wants to clinch. Moraes moves into range and clinches up with Westwood. Moraes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Westwood fails with the takedown. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Westwood fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Westwood closes the distance and clinches up with Moraes, looking for a takedown. Westwood pushes Moraes against the cage but Moraes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Moraes feinted with a counter takedown. Leonardo Moraes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jamil Westwood. Westwood has taken the fight to the clinch.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Westwood trying to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Westwood keeping moving, preventing Moraes from controlling successfully. Moraes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Westwood on the ground. Westwood working for a triangle but Moraes defends it easily.
Moraes has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Moraes throws an elbow that misses. Westwood uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Moraes's guard. Nice move by Westwood!
Westwood got a little sloppy there for a moment and Moraes has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Westwood has managed to get both his arms back between Moraes's legs - danger averted.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Moraes keeping moving, preventing Westwood from controlling successfully. Westwood being controlled here momentarily. Moraes wants to improve his position but instead Westwood has moved into half guard.
Moraes is looking for a sweep. Westwood is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Moraes is refusing to be controlled, as Westwood sits in half guard. Westwood takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Moraes is trying to control but Westwood manages to pass to mount!
Westwood prevents Moraes from getting the reversal. Westwood sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Westwood scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Moraes?
That's four minutes gone in the round. Westwood looking to ground and pound but Moraes is blocking nicely. Westwood controlling from mount. Westwood trying to control but he's not successful this time. Moraes is looking to get to half guard. Moraes wants to control but Westwood is having none of it. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Moraes is trying to escape the mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jamil Westwood showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Westwood tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Moraes swivels and escapes. Westwood dives in for a single leg takedown but Moraes sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. A head kick from Moraes lands but Westwood takes it in his stride. Moraes lands a leg kick that knocks Westwood off balance momentarily. Moraes throws a leg kick and Westwood counters with a nice uppercut. Westwood fails with a takedown attempt. Leonardo Moraes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jamil Westwood. Westwood closes the distance and clinches up with Moraes, looking for a takedown. Westwood pushes Moraes against the cage but Moraes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Moraes lands with a big left! Westwood is wobbled badly! Moraes comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Westwood to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.
