Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 13 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rupeni Veitayaki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Veli Ilkka Perkules! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Thiago Cunha and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Perkules misses with an attempted mid kick.
Veitayaki checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Veitayaki tries to clinch up but Perkules circles away and keeps his distance. Perkules bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
It looks like Rupeni Veitayaki has been cut. Perkules throws a low kick but Veitayaki avoids it. Perkules slips a jab and a cross from Veitayaki.
Perkules thuds his shin into the meat of Veitayaki's side. Perkules looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Veitayaki throws a half hearted mid kick. Veitayaki takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Perkules lands with a nice body punch. Veitayaki looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Perkules moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Veitayaki misses with a low kick.
Veitayaki tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Perkules manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Veitayaki takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. This has been an exciting period of action! Veitayaki takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Veitayaki throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Veli Ilkka Perkules seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Perkules throws out a head kick that Veitayaki doesn't see coming - it connects and sends Veitayaki crashing to the mat face first! He's bounced up to his knees and is scrambling to get back to his feet and beat the count. He's up on 5 but still looks a bit groggy; will the referee allow it to continue??? He's taking a good look into Veitayaki's eyes and has decided to let it go on!
That's one minute gone in the round. Perkules scores with a punch to the head.
Veitayaki is rocked! Veitayaki tries to get into range but Perkules steps to the side and lands a beautiful hook that drops Veitayaki! He's faceplanted into the mat, ass in the air... he's out cold! That's an image he won't want to show his grandkids when he gets older! Perkules scores the big KO victory!
