Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sam Witcher (ranked 1521 p4p, 191 weight class) and Padraig McNamara (ranked 2428 p4p, 284 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying McNamara's choice of entrance music: Kung liligaya ka sa piling ng iba. On his way into the cage it seems that Sam Witcher has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Sam Witcher seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 6 - 1, fighting out of New York, Sam Witcher! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Padraig McNamara! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Witcher fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
McNamara is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Witcher's half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. McNamara is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Witcher has managed to free his arm - good work. McNamara is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Witcher trying to control but McNamara postures up.

But Witcher has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Witcher! McNamara escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Witcher gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Witcher seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Witcher uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from McNamara. and Witcher counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Witcher throws a shot from downtown. McNamara moves away and avoids it. Padraig McNamara seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. McNamara changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. McNamara shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. McNamara throws a quick inside leg kick. McNamara misses with a hook. Witcher ducked under it nicely. Witcher tries to counter by clinching up but McNamara breaks away and moves out of range. McNamara throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. As McNamara tries to get set, Witcher tries to push him back and clinch up but McNamara manages to avoid the attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McNamara tries a low kick but Witcher avoids it. Witcher ducks under a wild hook from McNamara. Witcher uses good head movement to avoid the hook from McNamara. Witcher defending well as McNamara loads up on a big left hand. McNamara connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Witcher is looking to counter the offense by McNamara and move into the clinch. McNamara thuds a left hand into Witcher's body. A bone on bone clash there as Witcher blocks the leg kick.
Witcher is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from McNamara. Sam Witcher is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. McNamara throws an overhand right that lands on Witcher's shoulder, as Witcher tries to avoid the shot. McNamara throws a jab when Witcher was well out of range. McNamara swings away with a leg kick that misses. Witcher throws a lazy right hand but McNamara sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. McNamara has been the more effective fighter overall so far. McNamara lands with an overhand left. Witcher takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Padraig McNamara seems to be getting the better of the standup. McNamara gets tackled into the cage by Witcher. Witcher maintains the clinch. McNamara lands a body shot in the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round. McNamara is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Witcher gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Witcher lands a left hand.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. McNamara lands with a light punch inside. Witcher goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McNamara moves into full mount! Witcher won't be happy about that! Witcher is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Witcher knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McNamara on the ground. McNamara has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Witcher can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
