Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lashawn Davis (ranked 7488 p4p, 0 weight class) and Esteban Casillas (ranked 2864 p4p, 0 weight class). Esteban Casillas is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, Lashawn Davis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Esteban Casillas! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Columbo Gatti and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Davis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Casillas as he avoids it easily. Davis fails with a takedown attempt. Davis shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lashawn Davis. That's going to take a lot out of him. Davis blocks a head kick by Casillas.
Davis has taken the fight to the clinch.
Davis wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Davis has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Casillas is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Davis is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Casillas pulls him back up using the underhooks. Casillas tries to break free but Davis pushes him back against the cage. Davis jumps guard and drags Casillas to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Davis is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Casillas is aware though and is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davis preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Casillas trying to control but Davis is working from the bottom. Davis had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Casillas defends it easily. Davis lands with a heel strike from the guard.
Davis is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Casillas is aware though and is defending well. Davis is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Casillas trying to control the position from guard on top but Davis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Davis shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Casillas counters with a leg kick. Davis tries for a takedown but Casillas sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Davis shoots in for a double leg but Casillas sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Davis misses with a straight left. Casillas will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Casillas misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Davis has taken the fight to the clinch.
Davis gets control of Casillas's arms and successfully pulls guard. Davis will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Davis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Davis is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Davis throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Davis not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Davis controlling the pace. Davis stands up out of the half guard. A head kick misses from Casillas. Davis throws a quick counter head kick but Casillas was just out of range. Casillas thows a leg kick but Davis checks it and Davis counters with a nice uppercut.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Casillas scores with a one two! Davis had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Davis closes the distance and pushes Casillas back into the cage. Davis has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Casillas is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Davis wants a takedown but no success here.
Casillas blocks an elbow strike. Davis wants to take the fight to the mat but Casillas manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. A short left from Casillas. A battle for position here, against the cage. Casillas wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Davis has him pressed against the cage. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Davis pulls Casillas into guard.
Casillas missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Lashawn Davis will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Casillas tries for a takedown but Davis sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Davis closes the distance and clinches. A bit of stalling here from Davis.
Davis is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Casillas gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Davis has Casillas pressed against the cage, preventing Casillas from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Casillas wants to get back to striking at distance but Davis won't allow it.
Davis tries to break free but Casillas pushes him back against the cage. Davis wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Davis manages to pull guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Davis is controlling Casillas's posture. Davis looking for a guillotine here but Casillas defends easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Casillas trying to control the position from guard on top but Davis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Davis holds on and takes a little breather. Davis is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Casillas can do to turn this around? Davis bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Casillas's guard. Davis stands up over Casillas, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Davis content to stall in guard here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Casillas working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Davis. Davis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Davis seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Casillas for as long as he can get away with.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Davis slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. A lull in the action here as Davis stalls from top position. Casillas is looking for a sweep. Davis misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. The referee asks Davis politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Davis prefers to stall for the moment though.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Davis fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Casillas to the ground. Davis is now in Casillas's guard. Casillas being controlled here, momentarily. Davis pushes down on Casillas's leg and manages to get into half guard. Davis works his foot free and advances to mount. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Davis controlling the position easily from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lashawn Davis dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Davis instigates a clinch. Davis pulls guard effortlessly. Casillas avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Davis manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Casillas manages to get himself to full guard.
Casillas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Davis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. That's one minute gone in the round. Casillas tries to escape but Davis is in control. Davis is trying to get an arm triangle but Casillas is defending well. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Davis tries for a kimura but Casillas is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Davis taking a breather here. Davis throws an elbow but Casillas slips to the side and avoids it well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Davis tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Casillas gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Davis misses with a head shot. Davis punching from mount but Casillas doing a good job of avoiding damage. Davis unloading with bombs! Davis is landing with some decent strikes but Casillas is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Davis with the ground and pound from mount. Casillas blocking the ground and pound. Davis fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Casillas taking shots to the head. Davis looking to ground and pound but Casillas is blocking nicely. Davis throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Casillas because Davis loaded up on that one. Casillas defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Davis. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Davis controlling the pace for now. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that's the end of the fight! Lashawn Davis showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Davis, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
