The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Destro takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Destro tries to close the distance and clinch up but Alzate swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Alzate with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Destro gets tackled into the cage by Alzate. Alzate maintains the clinch.
Alzate working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Alzate lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Destro backwards.
Alzate scores with a nice hook to the head.

Destro has had enough of the clinch but Alzate keeps him there for the moment.

Destro jumps guard and drags Alzate to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Alzate accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Destro knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Alzate on the ground.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Destro on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Destro tries to get out of the position.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Alzate cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Destro is desperately trying to improve his position but Alzate has a good base and remains in mount.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Niko Alzate dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Alzate lands a nice shot to the body.
Destro walks straight into a right hand from Alzate - that's dropped him! Alzate jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Destro from any more punishment! Destro complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
