Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Teddy Guthrie (ranked 24779 p4p, 0 weight class) and Saeed Sheikh (ranked 5013 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guthrie throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sheikh.
Sheikh tries a head kick but it misses.
Sheikh dives in for a single leg takedown but Guthrie sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Guthrie feinted with a counter takedown.
Sheikh is looking to clinch.

and Guthrie counters by clinching up.
Sheikh tries to stall but Guthrie uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Guthrie is trying to drag Sheikh to the mat but Sheikh just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Guthrie gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Guthrie stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Guthrie wants it to stay on the feet.

Sheikh tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Guthrie defends well and Sheikh ends up having to push Guthrie into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Saeed Sheikh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sheikh darts in looking for a takedown but Guthrie gets double underhooks and turns Sheikh into the cage.

Sheikh tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Guthrie smiles and moves away.
