Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Josu Aingeru (ranked 863 p4p, 123 weight class) and Tony Winkle (ranked 1780 p4p, 237 weight class). The key to victory for Josu Aingeru has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Josu Aingeru!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Tony Winkle!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, John Mangel and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aingeru connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Winkle momentarily.
Josu Aingeru seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Winkle feints and as Aingeru raises his hands in defense, Winkle changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Aingeru keeping moving, preventing Winkle from controlling successfully.
Winkle tries to free his leg and advance position but Aingeru is retaining full guard.
Aingeru trying to keep a closed guard but Winkle is proving a slippery customer.
Winkle wants to control from the top but Aingeru keeps moving.
Aingeru has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Aingeru manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Winkle manages to get himself to full guard.

Winkle can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Aingeru controls the pace.

Let's hope that Winkle has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Winkle has his foot on Aingeru's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Aingeru works his way back into a safe position though.
Winkle is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Aingeru is stalling in the full guard.
Winkle has control of Aingeru's left arm, preventing Aingeru from doing any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Winkle's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Winkle has Aingeru pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Aingeru manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Winkle looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Aingeru prevents a takedown attempt there.
Josu Aingeru has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Winkle.
Winkle goes for a takedown in the clinch but Aingeru prevents it.
Aingeru is pressed up against the cage. Winkle has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Aingeru down to the mat. Aingeru avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Aingeru works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Winkle is trying to pull guard but Aingeru has him pressed against the cage.

Aingeru lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Aingeru lands a big right hand that sends Winkle crashing to the mat! Aingeru stays standing though and waves Winkle back to his feet!


It looks like Tony Winkle has been cut.

Aingeru closes the distance and clinches.
Aingeru scores with a shoulder strike.
Winkle is working for takedown but Aingeru is calmly controlling the position for now.
Aingeru lands with a short punch from the clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Winkle tries to pull guard but Aingeru forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Aingeru throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Winkles head.
Winkle drops down looking for an ankle pick but Aingeru pulls his leg out and moves away.
Josu Aingeru has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Winkle.
Winkle shoots in looking for a takedown. Aingeru tries to sprawl out of it but Winkle keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Aingeru manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Aingeru closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Winkle escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Winkle tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Still in half guard, Aingeru seems content to control.
Aingeru wants to lay and pray for a moment but Winkle keeps working.

Aingeru is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Winkle can do to turn this around?
Aingeru moves into full mount! Winkle won't be happy about that!
Winkle is desperately trying to improve his position but Aingeru has a good base and remains in mount.

Aingeru can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Winkle is looking to escape.
Winkle is looking to improve his position but Aingeru isn't that keen on the idea.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Aingeru is thwarting Winkle's attempts to control the position.
Aingeru slows the pace down in half guard.
Aingeru is trying to control the action in half guard but Winkle is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Winkle is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Winkle wants to control but Aingeru is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Aingeru ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Aingeru cracks Winkle with a good jab.
Winkle is trying hard to land a takedown here. Aingeru sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Aingeru connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Winkle's hands.

Aingeru feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Winkle sprawling to the canvas! Winkle rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Aingeru finish him?!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Winkle takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Aingeru cracks Winkle with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Winkle tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Aingeru pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Winkle is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Josu Aingeru!
