Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jean-Claude Marceau (ranked 354 p4p, 45 weight class) and Bobby Wangler (ranked 379 p4p, 52 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jean-Claude Marceau! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bobby Wangler! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, William Gold and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marceau thuds a left hand into Wangler's body. Marceau buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Marceau misses with a body shot.
A big right from Wangler misses. Wangler closes the distance but Marceau moves to the side and Marceau counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Wangler thinking. Marceau throws a jab when Wangler was well out of range. Wangler swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Marceau tests Wangler's chin there with a solid looking shot. Marceau definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Marceau scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marceau avoids a punch combination nicely.
Wangler needs to keep his hands up - Marceau had a free shot at his head there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wangler slips a straight right by Marceau. Jean-Claude Marceau is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Wangler darts in looking for a takedown but Marceau gets double underhooks and turns Wangler into the cage. Marceau swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Marceau misses with an uppercut
and Wangler counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
It looks like Jean-Claude Marceau has been cut. Wangler throws a jab when Marceau was well out of range. Marceau listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Marceau misses with an uppercut
and Wangler counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Wangler looks to clinch and Marceau counters with a lovely straight right hand! Wangler lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Marceau at a distance.
Marceau tries to bum rush Wangler with a series of wild strikes but Wangler uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Wangler bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Wangler swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Marceau jabbing away but nothing is landing. Wangler throws out a counter right but Marceau avoids it with no problem. Wangler uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Marceau.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wangler moves into the clinch. This has been an exciting period of action! Marceau misses with the head strike.
Wangler lands a body shot. Marceau tries to break the clinch but Wangler is controlling the position. Wangler wants a takedown but no success here.
Marceau lands on the inside with an uppercut. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Wangler. Wangler wants a takedown but no success here.
Jean-Claude Marceau has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby Wangler. Marceau breaks from the clinch.
Marceau displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Wangler. Marceau tried to counter with a leg kick but Wangler avoided it. Marceau dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Wangler. That did some damage! Marceau connects with the punch. Wangler throws a head kick but Marceau moves out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wangler misses with a hook
and Marceau counters with a huge left! Wangler is in big trouble! He's backing up but Marceau isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Wangler from any more damage. A dominating finish by Marceau!
